    I studied medicine at Nottingham University and have been a GP partner at St Peters Medical Centre since 1995. I currently works three days a week at St Peters, and one day a week at Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group as Clinical lead for Mental Health, Maternity and Children’s services. Outside of work, I have two teenage children, I love to travel, and I try to keep fit with Pilates and running. Appointment Availability: Mon am & pm,, Wed am & pm, Thurs am & pm

    I studied medicine at Imperial college as a graduate after doing a masters in forensic medicine, qualifying as a GP in 2020. I work 3 days a week at St Peter’s on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I have special interests in safeguarding children, minor ops and do steroid injections in the practice. Outside of work I enjoy paddle-boarding, African drumming and craft work.

    I joined St Peter’s Surgery in 1986 as a trainee and became a partner in 1987, having trained at Kings College Hospital in London. I later became a trainer of GP’s and took an interest in the running of local health care being elected Chair of Brighton and Hove Clinical Commission Group (CCG) in 2012. My main clinical interests are around children and family medicine and the relationship between mental and physical wellbeing. I am also interested in how teams work best together and the development of learning within the workplace. I stepped away from the role of Senior Partner and Chair in October 2016 but continue to work on a part time basis as a salaried GP in the practice. I continue to enjoy seeing patients and all the wonderful aspects of general practice and see the future as positive despite the pressures on our precious NHS. I enjoy all aspects of general practice but have a particular interest in paediatrics and teaching. Outside of work I have a young family that keeps me busy and enjoy dancing and cooking.

    I joined St Peters on a full-time basis in April 2020 as a clinical pharmacist and Independent Prescriber, having first registered as a pharmacist in 1998. I worked at another surgery in Brighton, part-time, before this. My background has been in both community pharmacy and academia for many years, and I continue to work part-time as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sussex, educating pharmacy, medical and other healthcare students. As a prescriber my areas of interest are Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Respiratory medicine. I conduct medication reviews and am happy to help patients better understand their medicines. I will liaise with prescribers in the practice to ensure the safe prescribing of medication.

I qualified as a RGN in London in 1980 and spent the first 10 years of my career as a sister in A&E before moving into general practice in 1990. I joined St Peters Medical Centre in 1997 and worked as a generalist advanced nurse practitioner and Nurse Partner until my recent retirement in June 2023. I have recently retired from the partnership and after a short retirement break have returned to St Peters Health Centre for two sessions a week. I am currently employed to provide Family Planning and Sexual Health appointments which include all forms of contraception. Implant and coil fits and removals, general contraceptive options, young people’s appointments, Ring pessary fit and removals and HRT consultations

    After many years of working in primary care locally as a manager I joined the St Peter’s team as their business manager in June 2016. I am thrilled to be working with such a positive, forward-looking team to provide services for our diverse practice population. I have always been passionate about primary care and look positively towards the future. My particular interests are transformational change and team development. I became a partner at St Peter’s in August 2017 and one of my main roles is to ensure that the business is financially sound and that the practice runs smoothly. I am always looking for opportunities which help improve patient care and the business. I work closely with the partners, the clinical team and management teams whilst always engaging with all our support staff. I am very involved in the management of our local Primary Care Network

Alcohol Liaison Nurse

Sandy Holder is our Alcohol Liaison Nurse and was born and grew up in Brighton. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Midwife in 1992 and 1996 respectively. In 2005 she qualified as a Mental Health Nurse. Since 1998 she has worked in the addictions field both in the statutory and voluntary sector. She has enjoyed a variety of different positions including Drug Liaison Midwife locally at a women’s drug project and continued working with families as a Maternal Health Liaison Nurse at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. For the last eight years she has been working as an Alcohol Liaison Nurse at the Royal Sussex County Hospital here in Brighton and more recently at St George’s in London. She works for all seven practices in our local Cluster.

Community Midwifery Services

What we do - Community midwives provide antenatal and postnatal care in children’s centres and GP practices. We also run an award winning homebirth service. Community midwives assess the health of both mother and baby, plan care in conjunction with you, and carry out all appointments for low risk maternity care. We provide a link to hospital services and provide valuable support and education to all pregnant women throughout pregnancy and in the first days after birth.
